Dark and Moody Wedding Photography Can Still Feel Candid and Joyful!

In your search for the perfect wedding and elopement photographer, you may have encountered the age-old divide: dark and moody photographers (that’s me - hey!) vs. light and airy photographers.

Those phrases might bring some specific vibes to your mind! “Light and airy” probably conjures images of families grinning and laughing and rolling around in bright green grass while the sun beams behind them and creates halos of light.

When you think “dark and moody,” you probably think of a photo, maybe black and white with some grain, by an adventure elopement photographer. It features a couple at blue hour, most likely wearing dark neutrals. They’re looking out over a body of water with a moody expression. They’re probably holding lanterns.

Am I describing my own photo right now…? Maybe… okay, yeah. Here it is below. ;)

Anyway, enough of the self-promo. What I’m trying to get at is that there’s a stereotype about each style, and people act like all wedding and elopement photographers fit neatly into one category. Well, I’m here to let you in on a little secret….

Moody photography can still feel joyful.

You don’t have to take yourself too seriously (I sure as heck don’t!) to enjoy a dark and moody photography style. Moody wedding photography can still feel authentic and true-to-you.

My vows to you…. As a dark and moody elopement photographer, I promise:

I can capture all the joy and emotion of your day (and aaaaaallllllll your silly goose vibes) just as authentically as a light and airy girlie can. Let’s have a blast together - the gallery of moody wedding photography is just a bonus!
